English Courses for Under-18s – Safe, Fun, and Educational

Who can join?

  • Aged 16-17? You can join our regular group lessons with adult students and learn in a dynamic, international environment.

  • Under 16? You’re welcome to join as part of a closed group, ensuring a focused and supportive learning experience.

  • Your child’s safety comes first! All students and parents should read our Safeguarding Policy.

How to book a course

  • A parent or guardian must book the course – it’s quick and easy!

  • For students joining adult classes, a consent form must be signed.

What to expect at school

Student ID Card – safety first

  • Under-18 students receive a red-lanyard ID card on their first morning.

  • They must wear it at all times to ensure easy identification and extra security.

Travel Made Simple

  • We provide useful travel guidance from Transport for London (TfL) to help students plan their journey confidently.

Attendance & Absence – Keeping you informed

  • We keep an attendance register at reception for all under-18s.

  • Students must check in before class each day.

  • After class, they are welcome to stay and enjoy our computers and books.

  • If a student will be late or absent, a parent or guardian must inform us as soon as possible.

  • If a student hasn’t arrived within 15 minutes of class starting, we will contact the parent or guardian immediately.

Exciting Social Activities

  • Every Friday, we organise fun and engaging activities to help students make friends and enjoy their time in the UK.

  • Please note, under-18s cannot visit pubs or watch 18+ films.

  • No worries! We have plenty of great activities just for them—check out our Facebook page for details!

Your child’s safety and wellbeing is our priority

We take the welfare of under-18 students seriously, with a dedicated team of trained professionals always on hand. â€‹â€‹â€‹

Staff ensure students under 18 years old understand their journey to and from the campus on their first day. If staying in accommodation from our agencies, curfews are put in place to ensure their safety and well-being.

  • Under 14 years of age – not allowed out unless accompanied by hosts or staff

  • 14- and 15-year-olds – 21:00

  • 16- and 17-year-olds - 22:00

Parental consent forms are sent to parents of every U18 having classes at UKCE. These parental consent forms ask that your child be of sufficient maturity to be able to navigate themselves around London during their stay while unaccompanied.

Any students as part of a group are supervised by their group leaders outside of class times. Their journey to and from campus should be supervised by their group leaders and if staying in accommodation we ask the Group Leaders to adhere to the curfew rules when unaccompanied by a group leader.
