Learning English in the second lockdown

Learning English in the second lockdown

Well, it happened again. England has gone into a second lockdown and that means that many businesses have to close as lots of our students are affected. Fortunately, your learning of English isn’t and in fact the UK college of English continues to go from strength to strength. We’d like to take this chance to remind you that UKCE is open and we are here for you.

We moved our entire school operations online during the 1st lockdown. Because they were so successful and our students were so happy, we decided to continue our online courses when the lockdown ended. Now all of our students can enjoy the benefits of having face-to-face lessons as well as online lessons. We also offer students the option to transfer between online and offline classes on a week-by-week basis.

We run online workshops every Thursday at 5pm. These are completely free and anyone can join, whether you study online or face to face. We also have a page on online activities for our students to enjoy while staying at home.

We have been very busy since reopen. That is partly because we take the health and safety of our students very seriously and we do everything we can to reduce any risk. Classes are cleaned daily. There is hand sanitiser at the entrance to the building, at reception and in every classroom. All students and teachers wear masks whilst they are in the building, including out of class, the teacher’s area and the toilets, corridors and stairs.

We have put a whole new system in place to make sure you and your  classmates can safely enjoy your course. And we’d like to remind you that we are here for you. If you have any concerns about your course or your welfare, please come to see our Academic Counsellor. If you’d like to chat with someone about anything personal, come to see our Welfare Officers.  We are here to support in any way we can.

These are tough times, but let’s not let that stop you from learning English. Do you remember the 1st lockdown when you made all of these promises to yourself to improve your English? Well for those of you that didn’t quite reach your goal that time round, we now have another opportunity. So this time I 100% want to see you focusing every day, motivated, and doing your best to improve your English. I’d like to see you taking lessons, attending our workshops, watching our idiom of the week challenge on Instagram and our daily live video lessons on Facebook. And  when all this is over you can be so proud of yourself. It’s your early Christmas present to yourself! Let us help you develop your skills. Let us help you become your better self. Remember, UKCE is open and we are here for you.
