Everybody’s language-learning goals are different. For example, you may want to focus on improving specific skills in English instead of taking a General English programme. If so, enrolling on part-time courses may be especially beneficial. At UK College of English (UKCE), we have many part-time courses that focus on specific skills, such as pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.
These part-time options may be a great way to help you achieve your goals quickly. Here are some of the ways a part-time programme can help you improve on specific English skills.
Part-Time English Lessons Can Be a Time-Efficient Way of Studying
Full-time General English courses are a great way of learning all of the main skill areas in order to become fluent in English. However, a General English programme may be a big time commitment. If you’re working or studying, you may not be able to set aside the 15 or more hours each week to study General English full-time.
UKCE offers Part-Time General English courses, but if you already have some English knowledge, your limited time may be better spent focusing on improving a specific skill. With our part-time programmes, you can spend as little as 4 hours per week in class. Within those limited hours, you can focus on the specific skills that you need to develop, such as grammar, pronunciation, or vocabulary. This allows you to spend your time studying the areas you need to learn rather than reviewing those you already know.
Focus on Your Specific Language Goals in Part-Time English Lessons
Not everybody studies English for the same reasons. For example, some people need to speak English for employment, while others need it for university study. Depending on why you want to learn English, you may have a greater need to master certain English skills over others.
For example, you might be after a promotion at work, but that promotion may require you to attend more meetings and give presentations. In that case, improving your English reading and writing skills may not be priorities for you. However, improving your pronunciation skills will be a top priority. Taking our part-time lessons which focus on pronunciation will help you get ready for that promotion faster. By enrolling on part-time English lessons that focus on the skills you need, you can more easily reach your language-learning goals.
Part-Time Lessons Are Often Easier for Individuals with Busy Schedules
Many full-time English courses are offered on a 5-day schedule. While that’s great for learning as much about the English language as possible, studying full-time may not be possible for students who are busy with work, school, or other commitments. Part-time courses are a much more flexible option if your schedule is particularly hectic.
For example, at UKCE you can choose part-time English lessons on Saturdays, for a few hours on weekday mornings, or during different evenings of the week. If you have a particularly unusual schedule, such as if you do shift work, then the flexibility offered by UKCE is likely to be appealing. Our location in central London near Tottenham Court Road tube station also makes our courses even more accessible for busy students.
