Reasons to Complete Academic IELTS Preparation
If you want to study at an English university, you might have to write the Academic IELTS exam. The Academic test is usually used for applying to university or for professional registration. This test includes academic vocabulary and questions. For this reason, it can help you prepare for studying at university in English. In fact, many university students write the Academic IELTS to test their English!
When Should You Complete General IELTS Test Preparation?
The IELTS General Training test focuses on everyday English. This test helps you prepare for things like talking with friends or coworkers. This may be the right choice for you if you will only be speaking English at a normal level, without high-level language. In the UK and some other countries, people who have recently moved to the country may need to take the General IELTS test. Some big companies also need people to write the General IELTS test to show their knowledge of English.
The Differences Between the Academic and General IELTS Exams
There are some differences between both exams. Fortunately, an IELTS college can prepare you for either exam.
While both IELTS tests have listening, speaking, reading, and writing parts, they are not the same. Both tests have reading materials followed by questions. The General test has 2-3 short pieces of writing, then 2 work-related texts and a longer general interest text. The Academic test has different kinds of writing, such as writing that are more academic. There are also pictures and charts included in the Academic test. In the writing part of the test, the Academic exam asks you to analyze a picture or chart. In the General test, you must write a letter instead. The good news is no matter which test you decide to take, the right classes can help you complete it with success.
